Ingredients

  • 300g steak (sirloin, ribeye, or preferred cut)
  • 3 cups cooked rice (preferably day-old)
  • 4 garlic cloves (minced)
  • 2 tbsp butter
  • 1 tbsp olive oil
  • 2 tbsp soy sauce
  • Salt (to taste)
  • Black pepper (to taste)
  • 3 tbsp green onions (chopped)
  • 2 eggs (optional)

Instructions

  1. Season the steak with salt and black pepper.
  2. Heat olive oil in a skillet over medium-high heat and cook the steak to your preferred doneness.
  3. Remove the steak from the pan and let it rest before slicing.
  4. In the same pan, add butter and sauté minced garlic until fragrant and lightly golden.
  5. Add the cooked rice, breaking up clumps, and cook until heated through and slightly crispy.
  6. Stir in soy sauce and adjust seasoning with salt and black pepper.
  7. If using eggs, push the rice to one side, scramble the eggs, then mix into the rice.
  8. Slice the rested steak.
  9. Serve the steak over or alongside the garlic rice and garnish with chopped green onions.

Notes

  • Day-old rice works best for achieving a non-sticky texture.
  • Add vegetables like peas, carrots, or bell peppers for extra nutrition.
  • Include a splash of oyster sauce for deeper flavor.
  • Add chili flakes or hot sauce for heat.
  • Reheat in a skillet with a little oil or water to restore texture.
