This classic Panna Cotta is a silky, smooth, and creamy Italian dessert made with heavy cream, milk, sugar, and vanilla. Light yet rich, it is perfect for serving with fresh berries, fruit sauce, caramel, or chocolate for an elegant and refreshing finish to any meal.

Ingredients

  • 2 cups heavy cream
  • 1 cup whole milk
  • 1/3 cup granulated sugar
  • 2 teaspoons vanilla extract
  • 2 1/4 teaspoons unflavored gelatin
  • 3 tablespoons cold water
  • Fresh berries or fruit sauce for serving

Instructions

  1. Pour the cold water into a small bowl and sprinkle the gelatin evenly over the top. Let it bloom for about 5 minutes.
  2. In a saucepan, combine the heavy cream, whole milk, and granulated sugar.
  3. Heat the mixture over medium heat, stirring occasionally until the sugar dissolves completely. Do not allow it to boil.
  4. Remove the saucepan from the heat and stir in the vanilla extract.
  5. Add the bloomed gelatin and stir until fully dissolved.
  6. Pour the mixture into serving glasses or ramekins.
  7. Refrigerate for at least 4 hours or until fully set.
  8. Serve chilled with fresh berries or fruit sauce on top.

  • Do not boil the cream mixture to maintain a smooth texture.
  • Espresso powder or citrus zest can be added for flavor variations.
  • Melted chocolate can be mixed into the cream for chocolate Panna Cotta.
  • Top with caramel sauce, berry compote, or toasted nuts for extra flavor and texture.
  • Store covered in the refrigerator for up to 3 days.
