Ingredients

  • 2 pears, peeled, halved, and cored
  • 1/4 cup honey
  • 2 cups water
  • 1 tablespoon lemon juice
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract (optional)
  • 1 cinnamon stick or 1/2 teaspoon ground cinnamon (optional)
  • 2 cups Greek yogurt or plain yogurt
  • 1/2 cup granola (optional)
  • 2 tablespoons nuts or seeds (optional)

Instructions

  1. In a small saucepan, combine the water, honey, lemon juice, vanilla extract, and optional cinnamon.
  2. Bring the mixture to a gentle simmer over medium-low heat.
  3. Add the pears and poach them gently for 15–20 minutes, turning occasionally, until soft and fork-tender.
  4. Remove the pears from the poaching liquid and allow them to cool slightly.
  5. Spoon the yogurt into serving bowls.
  6. Top each bowl with warm or cooled poached pears.
  7. Drizzle a little of the honey poaching syrup over the yogurt and pears.
  8. Finish with granola, nuts, or seeds if desired, and serve immediately.

Notes

  • Use ripe but firm pears such as Bartlett or Anjou for best results.
  • Pears can be served warm or chilled depending on preference.
  • Maple syrup or agave syrup can replace honey.
  • Add orange zest, cardamom, or cloves for extra flavor variation.
  • Coconut yogurt works well for a dairy-free version.
  • Store poached pears in their syrup in the refrigerator for up to 3 days.
  • Keep yogurt and pears separate until serving for the best texture.
