A refreshing homemade lemonade made with fresh lemon juice, simple syrup, and cold water for the perfect balance of sweet and tart flavors. This classic drink is crisp, easy to make, and perfect for warm days.

Ingredients

  • 1 cup fresh lemon juice (about 4 to 6 lemons)
  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • 5 cups cold water
  • 2 cups ice cubes
  • Lemon slices for garnish
  • Fresh mint leaves for garnish

Instructions

  1. Squeeze the fresh lemons until you have 1 cup of lemon juice.
  2. In a small saucepan, combine the granulated sugar with 1 cup of water.
  3. Heat over medium heat, stirring until the sugar dissolves completely to create a simple syrup.
  4. Remove the syrup from the heat and let it cool slightly.
  5. In a large pitcher, combine the lemon juice and simple syrup.
  6. Add the remaining cold water and stir well.
  7. Taste the lemonade and adjust sweetness or water if desired.
  8. Serve over ice cubes and garnish with lemon slices and fresh mint leaves.

Notes

  • Add strawberries, raspberries, or blueberries for a fruity variation.
  • Fresh basil or mint adds extra freshness and flavor.
  • Replace part of the water with sparkling water for sparkling lemonade.
  • Honey can be used instead of granulated sugar for natural sweetness.
  • Store covered in the refrigerator for up to 5 days.
  • Stir before serving since lemon juice may settle over time.
  • Freeze leftovers into ice cubes or popsicles for a refreshing treat.
