Ingredients
3 cups all-purpose flour
1 cup granulated sugar
4 teaspoons baking powder
1/2 teaspoon salt
1 1/2 cups milk
2 large eggs
2 teaspoons vanilla extract
1/2 cup unsalted butter, melted
3/4 cup unsalted butter, softened
1 cup brown sugar
2 tablespoons all-purpose flour
1 tablespoon ground cinnamon
2 cups powdered sugar
5 tablespoons milk
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
Instructions
Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease a 9×13-inch baking dish.
In a large mixing bowl, whisk together the flour, granulated sugar, baking powder, and salt.
Add the milk, eggs, vanilla extract, and melted butter. Stir until the batter is smooth and fully combined.
Pour the cake batter evenly into the prepared baking dish.
In a separate bowl, mix the softened butter, brown sugar, flour, and cinnamon until well combined.
Drop spoonfuls of the cinnamon filling over the cake batter. Use a knife to gently swirl the filling through the batter.
Bake for 35 to 40 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.
While the cake cools slightly, whisk together the powdered sugar, milk, and vanilla extract to make the glaze.
Drizzle the glaze over the warm cake before serving.
Notes
Add chopped pecans or walnuts to the cinnamon filling for extra crunch.
Mix cream cheese into the glaze for a richer flavor.
Raisins can be added to the cinnamon swirl for a classic cinnamon roll taste.
A pinch of nutmeg or pumpkin spice adds extra warmth during the holidays.
Store leftovers in an airtight container at room temperature for up to 2 days or refrigerate for up to 5 days.
Reheat slices in the microwave for 15 to 20 seconds before serving.
The cake can be frozen in individual slices for up to 3 months.
