A bold and flavorful chicken shawarma wrap made with spiced, marinated chicken, fresh vegetables, and creamy sauce wrapped in soft flatbread for a satisfying meal.

Ingredients

  • 500g chicken thighs or chicken breast
  • 1/2 cup plain yogurt
  • 3 cloves garlic, minced
  • 2 tablespoons lemon juice
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil
  • 1 teaspoon paprika
  • 1 teaspoon cumin
  • 1 teaspoon coriander
  • 1/2 teaspoon turmeric
  • 1/2 teaspoon cinnamon
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
  • 4 flatbreads or pita
  • 1 cup lettuce, shredded
  • 2 tomatoes, sliced
  • 1 cucumber, sliced
  • 1/2 red onion, thinly sliced
  • 1/2 cup tahini sauce or garlic sauce

Instructions

  1. In a bowl, combine yogurt, garlic, lemon juice, olive oil, paprika, cumin, coriander, turmeric, cinnamon, salt, and black pepper to make the marinade.
  2. Add the chicken and coat thoroughly. Marinate for at least 1 hour or overnight for best flavor.
  3. Cook the marinated chicken in a hot pan or grill for 6–8 minutes per side until fully cooked and slightly charred.
  4. Remove from heat, let rest for a few minutes, then slice into thin strips.
  5. Prepare vegetables by slicing tomatoes, cucumber, and red onion, and shredding lettuce.
  6. Warm the flatbread or pita until soft.
  7. Place sliced chicken in the center of each flatbread.
  8. Add vegetables on top and drizzle with tahini or garlic sauce.
  9. Wrap tightly, folding in the sides to secure the filling.
  10. Serve immediately while warm.

Notes

  • Marinate chicken longer for deeper flavor.
  • Can substitute chicken with beef or lamb.
  • Add pickles or fries inside the wrap for extra texture.
  • Serve as a bowl without bread for a lighter option.
  • Reheat chicken in a pan to maintain juiciness.
