Ingredients

  • 3 ripe bananas, sliced lengthwise
  • 1/2 cup brown sugar
  • 1/4 cup butter (for caramel)
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 1/2 teaspoons baking powder
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 2 eggs
  • 1/2 cup granulated sugar
  • 1/2 cup milk
  • 1/4 cup butter (for batter), melted

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 175°C (350°F) and grease a round cake pan.
  2. In a saucepan, melt 1/4 cup butter with brown sugar until smooth and caramel-like.
  3. Pour the caramel mixture into the prepared pan and spread evenly.
  4. Arrange banana slices over the caramel in a neat layer.
  5. In a bowl, whisk together flour, baking powder, and salt.
  6. In another bowl, beat eggs and granulated sugar until light and fluffy.
  7. Add vanilla extract, milk, and melted butter to the egg mixture and mix well.
  8. Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet ingredients, mixing until smooth.
  9. Pour the batter over the bananas and spread evenly.
  10. Bake for 35–40 minutes or until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean.
  11. Let the cake cool for 5–10 minutes, then carefully invert onto a serving plate.
  12. Serve warm or at room temperature.
