Ingredients

  • 1 sheet puff pastry, thawed
  • 1 bunch fresh asparagus, trimmed
  • 4 ounces goat cheese
  • 1/4 cup cream cheese, softened
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil
  • 1 teaspoon lemon zest
  • 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/4 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1 egg, beaten for egg wash
  • Fresh thyme, for garnish

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 400°F (200°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  2. Roll out the puff pastry slightly and place it on the prepared baking sheet.
  3. Score a border around the edges of the pastry without cutting all the way through.
  4. In a bowl, mix the goat cheese, cream cheese, lemon zest, garlic powder, salt, and black pepper until smooth.
  5. Spread the cheese mixture evenly inside the pastry border.
  6. Arrange the asparagus spears over the cheese layer.

  8. Brush the pastry edges with beaten egg.
  9. Bake for 20 to 25 minutes, or until the pastry is golden brown and crisp.
