  • 2 cups mixed berries (fresh or frozen)
  • 1/2 cup granulated sugar
  • 1/3 cup brown sugar
  • 1 tablespoon lemon juice
  • 1 teaspoon cinnamon
  • 2 tablespoons cornstarch
  • 1 cup rolled oats
  • 3/4 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1/2 cup butter, cold and cubed
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 180°C (350°F) and lightly grease a baking dish.
  2. In a large bowl, mix sliced apples, berries, granulated sugar, lemon juice, cinnamon, and cornstarch until well combined.
  3. Spread the fruit mixture evenly into the prepared baking dish.
  4. In another bowl, combine rolled oats, flour, brown sugar, and salt.
  5. Add cold butter and work it into the mixture using your fingers until crumbly.
  6. Sprinkle the topping evenly over the fruit layer.
  7. Bake for 35–40 minutes until the topping is golden brown and the filling is bubbling.
  8. Allow to cool slightly before serving.

Notes

  • Frozen berries can be used without thawing; add extra cornstarch if needed.
  • Firm apples like Granny Smith or Honeycrisp work best.
  • Add nutmeg or vanilla extract for deeper flavor.
  • For a healthier version, reduce sugar or use whole wheat flour.
  • Chopped nuts can be added for extra crunch.
