This 3-Ingredient Crème Brûlée is a simple yet elegant dessert featuring a silky custard made from melted vanilla ice cream and egg yolks, topped with a crisp caramelized sugar crust. Rich, creamy, and surprisingly easy to prepare, it is perfect for special occasions or an impressive homemade treat.

Ingredients

  • 2 cups vanilla ice cream, melted
  • 4 egg yolks
  • 2 tablespoons granulated sugar

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 325°F (160°C).
  2. Whisk the egg yolks in a bowl until smooth.
  3. Slowly add the melted vanilla ice cream while whisking continuously until fully combined.
  4. Pour the mixture evenly into ramekins.
  5. Place the ramekins into a baking dish and carefully pour hot water around them to create a water bath.
  6. Bake for 35 to 40 minutes until the custard is mostly set but still slightly jiggly in the center.
  7. Remove the ramekins from the water bath and let them cool to room temperature.
  8. Refrigerate for at least 2 hours until fully chilled.
  9. Before serving, sprinkle granulated sugar evenly over the tops and caramelize with a kitchen torch until golden and crisp.

Notes

  • High-quality vanilla ice cream creates the richest flavor and smoothest texture.
  • Chocolate or caramel ice cream can be used for flavor variations.
  • Espresso powder or citrus zest adds extra depth to the custard.
  • Fresh berries make a beautiful garnish for serving.
  • Store covered in the refrigerator for up to 3 days before caramelizing the sugar topping.
  • Caramelize the sugar just before serving so the top stays crisp.
