Ingredients

  • 200g dark chocolate or semi-sweet chocolate, chopped
  • 2 cups heavy whipping cream, divided

Instructions

  1. Chop the chocolate into small pieces and place it in a heatproof bowl.
  2. Warm 1 cup of the heavy whipping cream in a saucepan over medium heat until hot but not boiling.
  3. Pour the warm cream over the chopped chocolate and let it sit for 1 minute.
  4. Stir until the chocolate melts completely and the mixture becomes smooth and glossy.
  5. Allow the chocolate mixture to cool slightly.
  6. Whip the remaining 1 cup of heavy cream until soft peaks form.
  7. Gently fold the whipped cream into the cooled chocolate mixture in batches until light and airy.
  8. Spoon the mousse into serving glasses or bowls.
  9. Refrigerate for at least 2 hours until fully set.
  10. Serve chilled with optional toppings like shaved chocolate, berries, or whipped cream.

Notes

  • Use high-quality chocolate for the best flavor and texture.
  • Do not overwhip the cream to keep the mousse light and fluffy.
  • A pinch of sea salt or vanilla extract can enhance the chocolate flavor.
  • Espresso powder can be added for a mocha variation.
  • The mousse tastes even better after chilling overnight.
