Crispy, buttery garlic bread topped with melty mozzarella, juicy tomatoes, fresh basil, and a drizzle of balsamic glaze for a fresh yet comforting Italian-inspired dish.

Ingredients

  • 1 large French baguette or Italian loaf
  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter, softened
  • 3 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 1/2 cups shredded mozzarella cheese
  • 1 cup fresh mozzarella, sliced
  • 1 cup cherry tomatoes, halved
  • 1/4 cup fresh basil leaves, chopped or torn
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil
  • 1 tablespoon balsamic glaze
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1/4 teaspoon black pepper

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C). Slice the baguette in half lengthwise and place on a baking sheet.
  2. In a small bowl, mix softened butter with minced garlic. Spread evenly over both halves of the bread.
  3. Sprinkle shredded mozzarella evenly over the bread, then arrange fresh mozzarella slices on top.
  4. Bake for 10–12 minutes, until the cheese is melted and bubbly and the edges are golden.
  5. While baking, toss halved cherry tomatoes with olive oil, salt, and black pepper.
  6. Remove bread from the oven and spoon tomatoes evenly over the melted cheese.
  7. Sprinkle fresh basil on top and drizzle with balsamic glaze. Slice and serve immediately.

Notes

  • Add grated Parmesan before baking for extra richness.
  • Sprinkle red pepper flakes into the garlic butter for heat.
  • Use fresh tomato slices for a more traditional caprese presentation.
  • Top with grilled chicken to make it more filling.
  • Store leftovers in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 2 days.
  • Reheat in the oven at 350°F (175°C) for 5–7 minutes to maintain crispiness.
