Tree Cupcake Cones are festive cupcakes baked inside ice cream cones and decorated to look like colorful Christmas trees. Perfect for holiday parties or baking with kids, they’re as fun to make as they are to eat.

Ingredients

  • 1 box cake mix (or homemade cupcake batter)
  • Water, oil, and eggs as required for cake mix
  • 2024 flat-bottomed ice cream cones
  • Green food coloring
  • 1 cup butter or frosting of choice (for decorating)
  • Sprinkles, mini candies, or edible glitter
  • Optional: star-shaped candies or yellow M&Ms for toppers

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven according to the cake mix or cupcake recipe instructions.
  2. Prepare the cupcake batter as directed. Add green food coloring to tint it festive green.
  3. Place ice cream cones upright in a muffin tin or supported baking tray.
  4. Fill each cone about two-thirds full with batter.
  5. Bake for 18–22 minutes, or until a toothpick comes out clean.
  6. Let the cones cool completely before decorating.
  7. Pipe green frosting on top in a swirl to resemble a Christmas tree.
  8. Decorate with sprinkles, candies, and a candy star or yellow M&M on top.

Notes

  • Use chocolate batter for color contrast with green frosting.
  • Add crushed candy canes to batter or frosting for peppermint flavor.
  • Dip cone edges in melted chocolate for a fancy touch.
