Tender seared steak bites coated in a glossy sweet, savory, and slightly spicy sticky glaze—quick to make and packed with flavor.

Ingredients

  • 1 1/2 lbs steak (sirloin, ribeye, or flank), cut into bite-sized pieces
  • 2 tbsp cornstarch
  • 2 tbsp vegetable or sesame oil
  • 1/4 cup soy sauce
  • 3 tbsp brown sugar or honey
  • 3 garlic cloves, minced
  • 1 tsp grated ginger
  • 1 tbsp rice vinegar or lime juice
  • 1/4 tsp chili flakes or a dash of hot sauce (optional)
  • 2 tbsp sliced green onions or 1 tbsp sesame seeds (for garnish)

Instructions

  1. Pat the steak dry, cut into bite-sized pieces, and toss with cornstarch.
  2. Mix soy sauce, brown sugar, garlic, ginger, vinegar, and chili flakes in a bowl to form the sauce.
  3. Heat oil in a large skillet over medium-high heat.
  4. Sear steak bites in batches for 2–3 minutes per side until browned.
  5. Pour the sauce into the pan and let it simmer for 1 minute to thicken.
  6. Return steak to the pan, toss to coat, and cook 1–2 more minutes until glossy.
  7. Garnish with green onions or sesame seeds before serving.

Notes

  • Swap steak for chicken or tofu for variation.
  • Add vegetables like bell peppers or snap peas for a stir-fry twist.
  • Add sriracha or extra chili flakes for more heat.
  • A splash of orange juice adds a citrusy twist.
