Ingredients

  • ½ cup water
  • 2 tbsp unsalted butter
  • ¼ tsp salt
  • 1 tbsp sugar
  • ½ cup plain flour
  • ½ tsp vanilla essence
  • 1 egg
  • ¼ cup white sugar (for coating)
  • 1 tsp cinnamon powder (for coating)

Instructions

  1. In a saucepan, combine water, butter, salt, and sugar. Bring to a boil.
  2. Reduce heat and gradually stir in flour until a smooth dough forms. Remove from heat.
  3. Transfer dough to a bowl and let it cool for 4–5 minutes.
  4. Add vanilla essence and egg, then beat with a hand mixer until smooth.
  5. Transfer the dough to a piping bag.
  6. Preheat air fryer to 375°F (190°C) and lightly spray the basket.
  7. Pipe bite-sized churro pieces into the basket, brush with melted butter.
  8. Air fry for 10–12 minutes until golden and crispy.
  9. Mix sugar and cinnamon in a shallow bowl.
  10. Toss warm churro bites in cinnamon sugar.
  11. Serve with dipping sauces like melted chocolate, Nutella, or dulce de leche.

Notes

  • Swap vanilla with almond extract or vanilla bean paste.
  • Try cocoa-sugar or pumpkin spice for a twist.
  • Dough can be spooned instead of piped for a rustic look.
  • Store leftovers in an airtight container for up to 2 days.
  • Reheat in air fryer at 350°F for 1–2 minutes to crisp them back up.
  • Dough can be prepped 24 hours ahead and chilled.
