These Striped Candy Apples are a festive and nostalgic fall treat made with crisp apples dipped in a glossy candy shell with eye-catching red stripes. Perfect for Halloween, fall fairs, or homemade gifts, this striped candy apple recipe is simple to make and always a crowd favorite.

Ingredients

  • 4 medium-sized apples (Granny Smith or Honeycrisp)
  • 4 wooden sticks
  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • ½ cup light corn syrup
  • ¼ cup water
  • Optional: red gel food coloring for stripes

Instructions

  1. Wash and dry apples thoroughly to remove wax. Insert wooden sticks into the tops and chill apples in the fridge.
  2. In a saucepan, combine sugar, corn syrup, and water over medium heat. Stir until dissolved.
  3. Bring to a boil without stirring and cook until mixture reaches 300°F (hard crack stage).
  4. Add drops of red gel food coloring around the edge of the pan (don’t stir).
  5. Dip each apple into the hot candy, twirling to coat and swirl the stripes. Let excess drip off.
  6. Place apples on a parchment-lined baking sheet to cool and harden completely.
  7. Serve or wrap once fully set.

Notes

  • Add cinnamon extract for a spiced version.
  • Use different food colors, sprinkles, or edible glitter for variety.
  • Store at room temperature in a dry place for up to 2 days.
  • Avoid refrigerating to keep the candy coating crisp.
