Strawberry Cream Cheese Heart Danishes are flaky, golden pastries filled with sweet cream cheese and fruity strawberry jam, shaped into adorable hearts. They’re perfect for Valentine’s Day, breakfast in bed, or any moment worth celebrating with a special treat.

Ingredients

  • 1 sheet puff pastry, thawed
  • 4 oz cream cheese, softened
  • 2 tablespoons granulated sugar
  • 1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1/4 cup strawberry jam or preserves
  • 23 fresh strawberries, chopped (optional)
  • 1 egg, beaten (for egg wash)
  • Powdered sugar (optional, for dusting or glaze)

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 400°F (200°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  2. Roll out puff pastry slightly and cut out heart shapes using a cookie cutter. Cut smaller hearts out of half the hearts to make heart frames.
  3. In a small bowl, mix cream cheese, sugar, and vanilla until smooth.
  4. Place full heart cutouts on the baking sheet and spread 1–2 teaspoons of cream cheese filling in the center, leaving space around the edges.
  5. Top with 1 teaspoon of strawberry jam and a few chopped strawberries if using.
  6. Place the heart frames over the filled hearts and gently press edges to seal.
  7. Brush tops with egg wash.
  8. Bake for 15–18 minutes, or until puffed and golden brown.
  9. Cool slightly, then dust with powdered sugar or drizzle with glaze if desired.

Notes

  • Don’t overfill the centers to avoid leaks during baking.
  • Use a variety of jams like raspberry or cherry for different flavors.
  • Serve warm for the best texture and flavor.
  • For a crunch, sprinkle sliced almonds on top before baking.
