Crispy crostini topped with creamy avocado and a zesty spicy crab mixture, creating a fresh and elegant appetizer with crunchy, creamy, and spicy flavors.

Ingredients

  • 1 baguette, sliced into 12 pieces
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil
  • 1 cup cooked crab meat
  • 1 avocado, mashed
  • 2 tablespoons mayonnaise
  • 1 tablespoon lime juice
  • 1 teaspoon sriracha or hot sauce
  • 2 green onions, finely chopped
  • 1/4 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1/4 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1 tablespoon fresh cilantro or parsley, chopped (optional)

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C).
  2. Arrange baguette slices on a baking sheet and brush lightly with olive oil.
  3. Toast the bread in the oven for 8 to 10 minutes until golden and crisp.
  4. Remove the crostini from the oven and allow them to cool slightly.
  5. In a bowl, gently mix crab meat, mayonnaise, lime juice, sriracha, chopped green onions, garlic powder, salt, and black pepper.
  6. In another bowl, mash the avocado with a small squeeze of lime juice and a pinch of salt.
  7. Spread a layer of mashed avocado onto each toasted baguette slice.
  8. Spoon the spicy crab mixture on top of the avocado layer.
  9. Garnish with chopped cilantro or parsley if desired.
  10. Serve immediately.

Notes

  • Canned crab meat can be used if fresh crab is unavailable.
  • Adding diced cucumber or celery gives extra crunch.
  • A slice of fresh jalapeño on top increases the heat.
  • A drizzle of sweet chili sauce adds a sweet-spicy contrast.
  • Mix avocado with lime juice to help prevent browning.
  • Assemble crostini just before serving to keep the bread crisp.
