These Slow Cooker Cracker Barrel Fried Apples are a cozy, cinnamon-sugar side dish that tastes just like the restaurant favorite—but made easier at home. With just a few pantry staples and a slow cooker, you’ll have tender, buttery apples that are perfect for fall dinners, desserts, or breakfast toppings.

Ingredients

  • 68 firm apples (Granny Smith or Golden Delicious), peeled, cored, and sliced
  • 2 tablespoons cornstarch
  • 1/2 cup brown sugar
  • 1/4 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 1/2 teaspoons ground cinnamon
  • 1/4 cup melted butter
  • 1 tablespoon lemon juice
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract

Instructions

  1. Peel, core, and slice apples into even wedges.
  2. Add apple slices to the slow cooker. Sprinkle cornstarch over the apples and stir gently to coat.
  3. Add brown sugar, granulated sugar, and cinnamon. Stir gently.
  4. Pour in melted butter, lemon juice, and vanilla extract. Mix carefully to coat all the apples.
  5. Cover and cook on high for 2 hours, stirring once halfway through.
  6. Serve warm as a side, dessert, or breakfast topping.

Notes

  • For deeper spice, add nutmeg or allspice.
  • A splash of maple syrup adds rich sweetness.
  • Stir in a tablespoon of bourbon for a warm twist.
  • Top with chopped pecans or walnuts for crunch.
  • Dried cranberries add a tart contrast when added halfway through cooking.
