Ingredients

  • 8 chicken drumsticks
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil
  • 3 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1/4 cup soy sauce
  • 1/4 cup honey
  • 1/4 cup ketchup
  • 2 tablespoons brown sugar
  • 1 tablespoon apple cider vinegar
  • 1 teaspoon paprika
  • 1 teaspoon onion powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1 tablespoon cornstarch
  • 2 tablespoons water
  • 1 tablespoon fresh parsley, chopped

Instructions

  1. Season the chicken drumsticks with salt, black pepper, paprika, and onion powder.
  2. Heat olive oil in a skillet over medium heat and brown the drumsticks on all sides for a few minutes to enhance flavor (optional).
  3. Place the drumsticks into the slow cooker.
  4. In a bowl, mix soy sauce, honey, ketchup, brown sugar, apple cider vinegar, and minced garlic.
  5. Pour the sauce over the chicken drumsticks in the slow cooker.
  6. Cover and cook on low for 5 to 6 hours or on high for 3 to 4 hours until the chicken is tender and fully cooked.
  7. Remove the drumsticks and set aside.
  8. In a small bowl, mix cornstarch and water to create a slurry, then stir it into the sauce in the slow cooker.
  9. Cook for a few minutes until the sauce thickens.
  10. Return the drumsticks to the slow cooker and coat them with the thickened sauce.
  11. Sprinkle chopped parsley on top before serving.

Notes

  • Browning the drumsticks before slow cooking adds extra flavor but can be skipped for convenience.
  • You can add vegetables like potatoes, carrots, onions, or bell peppers to cook alongside the chicken.
  • Add chili flakes or hot sauce if you prefer a spicy version.
  • Mixing barbecue sauce with the glaze creates a smoky variation.
  • Store leftovers in the refrigerator for up to 4 days in an airtight container.
