A light and fresh angel hair pasta tossed with a simple cherry tomato garlic sauce, olive oil, and basil for an effortless yet satisfying meal.

Ingredients

  • 12 oz angel hair pasta
  • 2 cups cherry tomatoes, halved
  • 3 tbsp olive oil
  • 4 cloves garlic, thinly sliced
  • 1 tsp salt (or to taste)
  • 1/2 tsp black pepper
  • 1/4 tsp red pepper flakes
  • 1/4 cup fresh basil, torn
  • 1/2 cup grated Parmesan cheese

Instructions

  1. Bring a large pot of salted water to a boil.
  2. Cook angel hair pasta until just al dente, according to package instructions.
  3. Reserve 1/2 cup pasta water, then drain the pasta.
  4. Heat olive oil in a large skillet over medium heat.
  5. Add garlic and cook gently until fragrant, without browning.
  6. Add cherry tomatoes and cook until softened and starting to burst.
  7. Season with salt, black pepper, and red pepper flakes.
  8. Add cooked pasta to the skillet and toss to combine.
  9. Add a splash of reserved pasta water if needed to loosen the sauce.
  10. Remove from heat and finish with fresh basil and Parmesan cheese.

Notes

  • Angel hair cooks very quickly, so watch it closely.
  • Add shrimp or grilled chicken for extra protein.
  • Olives or capers add a briny twist.
  • Finish with lemon juice for extra brightness.
