A hearty and flavorful salmon steak recipe seasoned simply with olive oil, garlic, and lemon, delivering a rustic, restaurant-quality seafood dish in under 20 minutes.

Ingredients

  • 2 salmon steaks (about 8 ounces each)
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil
  • Salt, to taste
  • Black pepper, to taste
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • Juice of 1/2 lemon
  • 1 tablespoon chopped fresh parsley (optional)
  • Lemon wedges, for serving

Instructions

  1. Pat the salmon steaks dry with paper towels and season both sides generously with salt and black pepper.
  2. Heat olive oil in a large skillet over medium heat.
  3. Add the minced garlic and cook for about 30 seconds until fragrant.
  4. Place the salmon steaks in the skillet and cook for 4–5 minutes on the first side without moving them.
  5. Carefully flip the steaks and cook for another 4–5 minutes, depending on thickness, until the fish flakes easily with a fork and reaches an internal temperature of 145°F.
  6. Squeeze fresh lemon juice over the salmon and sprinkle with chopped parsley before serving.
  7. Serve immediately with lemon wedges on the side.

Notes

  • Season with paprika, cayenne, or a seafood seasoning blend for extra flavor.
  • For grilling, cook over medium-high heat for about 4–5 minutes per side on lightly oiled grates.
  • For baking, cook at 400°F for 12–15 minutes until fully cooked.
  • Leave the skin on during cooking to help hold the steak together; remove after cooking if preferred.
  • Marinate for 15–30 minutes in olive oil, lemon juice, garlic, and herbs for added flavor.
  • Store leftovers in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 2 days and reheat gently to avoid drying out.
