Perfect Chocolate Mousse is a rich, silky, and airy dessert made with real chocolate, whipped cream, and egg yolks. This indulgent no-bake treat is elegant enough for special occasions and easy enough for everyday cravings.

Ingredients

  • 6 oz semi-sweet or dark chocolate (60–70% cocoa), chopped or chips
  • 1 cup heavy whipping cream
  • 3 large egg yolks
  • 2 tablespoons granulated sugar
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • Pinch of salt
  • Optional toppings: whipped cream, shaved chocolate, raspberries, mint leaves

Instructions

  1. Melt chocolate in a heatproof bowl over simmering water (double boiler) until smooth. Remove from heat and let cool slightly.
  2. In a separate bowl, whisk egg yolks and sugar until pale and slightly thickened.
  3. Slowly whisk a small amount of melted chocolate into the yolk mixture to temper it, then stir in the remaining chocolate and vanilla extract.
  4. In another bowl, whip the heavy cream with a pinch of salt until soft peaks form.
  5. Gently fold the whipped cream into the chocolate mixture in batches, maintaining a light, airy texture.
  6. Spoon into serving glasses or bowls, cover, and chill for at least 2 hours or until set.
  7. Top with whipped cream, chocolate shavings, or berries before serving.
