Ingredients

  • 1/2 lb lean ground beef
  • 1 tsp dried oregano (divided)
  • 1/2 tsp garlic powder
  • 1/2 tsp kosher salt
  • 3/4 cup pizza sauce (divided)
  • 1 tube refrigerated pizza dough
  • 6 slices provolone cheese
  • 2030 slices thin pepperoni
  • 1 1/2 cups shredded mozzarella cheese
  • 2 tbsp melted butter
  • 2 tbsp grated Parmesan cheese

Instructions

  1. In a skillet over medium heat, cook ground beef with 3/4 tsp oregano, garlic powder, and salt until browned. Drain any excess fat.
  2. Let beef cool slightly, then mix in 1/3 cup pizza sauce.
  3. Roll out pizza dough onto a baking sheet lined with parchment paper. Let it rest if it resists stretching.
  4. Down the center of the dough, layer 1/2 cup pizza sauce, provolone slices, pepperoni, beef mixture, and mozzarella cheese.
  5. Cut slits down each side of the dough, about 1 inch apart. Fold strips over the filling, alternating sides to create a braid.
  6. Mix melted butter with Parmesan cheese and remaining oregano. Brush evenly over the dough.
  7. Bake at 375°F (190°C) for 20–25 minutes, until golden brown and bubbling. Let rest 5 minutes before slicing.
  8. Serve with remaining pizza sauce, warmed, for dipping.

Notes

  • Swap in sausage, bacon, or veggies to customize.
  • Use smoked gouda or cheddar for a flavor twist.
  • Bake, cool, and freeze for make-ahead convenience.
  • For extra crispness, reheat leftovers in a skillet.
