A rich and comforting chicken cordon bleu pasta bake combining tender chicken, creamy sauce, and melted Swiss cheese baked to golden perfection.

Ingredients

  • 300g pasta (penne or fusilli)
  • 2 chicken breasts, cooked and diced
  • 1 1/2 cups Swiss cheese, shredded
  • 1/2 cup cream
  • 1 cup milk
  • 3 tablespoons butter
  • 3 tablespoons all-purpose flour
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 tablespoon Dijon mustard
  • Salt and pepper to taste

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 180°C (350°F) and grease a baking dish.
  2. Cook the pasta according to package instructions, then drain and set aside.
  3. Cook the chicken in a pan until fully cooked, then cut into bite-sized pieces.
  4. In a saucepan, melt butter over medium heat and sauté garlic until fragrant.
  5. Stir in flour to form a roux and cook for 1–2 minutes.
  6. Gradually whisk in milk and cream, stirring until the sauce thickens and becomes smooth.
  7. Add Dijon mustard, salt, and pepper, then stir in half of the Swiss cheese until melted.
  8. In a large bowl, combine pasta and chicken, then pour the sauce over and mix well.
  9. Transfer the mixture to the prepared baking dish and top with remaining cheese.
  10. Bake for 25–30 minutes until bubbly and golden on top.
  11. Let rest for a few minutes before serving.

Notes

  • Add broccoli or peas for extra color and nutrition.
  • Use more milk and less cream for a lighter version.
  • Add breadcrumbs on top for a crispy finish.
  • Rotisserie chicken works well to save time.
  • Add a splash of milk when reheating to maintain creaminess.
