Healthy Air Fryer Churro Bites are a lighter, bite-sized version of the classic churro—crispy on the outside, soft on the inside, and coated in sweet cinnamon-sugar. Made with wholesome ingredients and cooked in the air fryer, they’re the perfect quick and fun treat.

Ingredients

  • 1 cup whole wheat flour or all-purpose flour
  • 1½ teaspoons baking powder
  • ¼ teaspoon salt
  • 2 tablespoons coconut sugar or granulated sugar (plus more for coating)
  • ½ teaspoon ground cinnamon (plus more for coating)
  • ½ cup unsweetened almond milk (or milk of choice)
  • 2 tablespoons melted coconut oil
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • Cooking spray (for air fryer)

Instructions

  1. In a bowl, whisk together flour, baking powder, and salt.
  2. In a separate bowl, combine almond milk, melted coconut oil, vanilla, and 1 tablespoon sugar.
  3. Mix wet and dry ingredients to form a soft dough. If sticky, add a bit more flour.
  4. Roll dough into 20 bite-sized balls.
  5. Preheat air fryer to 350°F (175°C) and spray basket lightly with cooking spray.
  6. Place dough balls in the basket in a single layer. Air fry for 8–10 minutes, shaking halfway through.
  7. While warm, toss churro bites in a cinnamon-sugar mixture made with remaining sugar and cinnamon.
  8. Serve warm, with optional dipping sauces like chocolate or caramel.

Notes

  • Add cocoa powder for a chocolate version or protein powder for a boost.
  • Use oat flour for gluten-free churro bites.
  • Drizzle with melted dark chocolate for extra sweetness.
  • Store at room temperature for up to 2 days; reheat in the air fryer to restore crispiness.
  • Freeze after cooking and reheat straight from frozen.
