A smooth and creamy garlic hummus made with chickpeas, tahini, lemon juice, and fresh garlic. This flavorful dip is perfect for snacks, appetizers, or spreading on sandwiches and wraps.

Ingredients

  • 1 can (15 oz) chickpeas, drained and rinsed
  • 2 garlic cloves
  • 1/4 cup tahini
  • 3 tablespoons lemon juice
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil
  • 1/2 teaspoon ground cumin
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 3 to 5 tablespoons cold water
  • 1/4 teaspoon paprika
  • 1 tablespoon fresh parsley, chopped

Instructions

  1. Add the chickpeas, garlic cloves, tahini, lemon juice, olive oil, cumin, and salt to a food processor.
  2. Blend for about 1 minute until the mixture begins to form a thick paste.
  3. While the processor is running, slowly add cold water a little at a time until the hummus becomes smooth and creamy.
  4. Taste the hummus and adjust the seasoning with additional salt or lemon juice if needed.
  5. Transfer the hummus to a serving bowl and use the back of a spoon to create a swirl on top.
  6. Drizzle with a little olive oil and garnish with paprika and chopped parsley before serving.

Notes

  • Roasting the garlic before blending creates a sweeter and milder flavor.
  • Add roasted red peppers, sun-dried tomatoes, or fresh herbs for different variations.
  • A pinch of chili flakes can add a little heat.
  • If the hummus becomes too thick, mix in a small amount of cold water to loosen the texture.
  • Store leftovers in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 5 days.
