This French Fry Casserole Bake combines crispy crinkle-cut fries, seasoned ground beef, and a creamy cheddar-mushroom sauce into the ultimate comfort food. Easy to make and packed with flavor, it’s perfect for busy weeknights, potlucks, or game day feasts.

Ingredients

  • 1 bag frozen crinkle-cut French fries (about 26 oz)
  • 1 lb lean ground beef
  • 1 sweet yellow onion, chopped
  • 1 tsp kosher salt
  • ½ tsp cracked black pepper
  • 1 tbsp Worcestershire sauce
  • 1 can cream of mushroom soup (10.5 oz)
  • 1 can cheddar cheese soup (10.5 oz)
  • ½ cup half and half
  • 3 cups mild cheddar cheese, freshly grated (divided)

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C). Spread fries on a foil-lined baking sheet and bake for 20–25 minutes until golden and crisp.
  2. Meanwhile, in a skillet over medium-high heat, brown ground beef with chopped onion. Season with salt and pepper. Drain excess liquid.
  3. Stir in cream of mushroom soup, cheddar cheese soup, half and half, and Worcestershire sauce. Simmer until well combined and heated through.
  4. In a greased 9×13-inch baking dish, spread the beef mixture evenly. Top with 1 cup shredded cheddar cheese.
  5. Layer the baked fries over the beef mixture, then sprinkle the remaining 2 cups of cheddar cheese on top.
  6. Bake for 18–20 minutes until the cheese is melted and bubbly. Serve hot.

Notes

  • Swap ground beef for turkey, chicken, or plant-based meat.
  • Add jalapeños or a dash of hot sauce for extra heat.
  • Use cream of chicken or celery soup for a flavor twist.
  • Substitute tater tots or steak fries for crinkle-cut fries.
