Ingredients

  • 3 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1/4 cup sugar
  • 2 1/4 tsp active dry yeast
  • 1 cup warm milk
  • 1/4 cup butter, melted
  • 1 large egg
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • Filling:
  • 1/2 cup brown sugar
  • 2 tsp ground cinnamon
  • 1/4 cup butter, softened
  • 1 cup fresh or frozen blueberries
  • Glaze:
  • 1 cup powdered sugar
  • 23 tbsp milk or cream
  • 1/2 tsp vanilla extract

Instructions

  1. In a small bowl, combine warm milk, yeast, and a pinch of sugar. Let sit for 5–10 minutes until foamy.
  2. In a large bowl, mix flour, sugar, and salt.
  3. Add the yeast mixture, melted butter, and egg. Mix until a dough forms.
  4. Knead the dough for 8–10 minutes until smooth and elastic.
  5. Place the dough in a greased bowl, cover, and let rise for 1–1.5 hours until doubled in size.
  6. Roll the dough into a rectangle on a floured surface.
  7. Spread softened butter over the dough, then sprinkle brown sugar and cinnamon evenly.
  8. Scatter blueberries across the surface.
  9. Roll the dough tightly into a log and slice into 10–12 rolls.
  10. Place rolls in a greased baking dish, cover, and let rise again for 30–45 minutes.
  11. Preheat oven to 175°C (350°F).
  12. Bake for 25–30 minutes until golden brown.
  13. Mix glaze ingredients and drizzle over warm rolls before serving.

Notes

  • Use frozen blueberries directly without thawing to prevent excess moisture.
  • Add lemon zest for a fresh citrus flavor.
  • Try a cream cheese glaze for a richer topping.
  • Avoid overbaking to keep rolls soft and fluffy.
  • Dough can be prepared ahead and refrigerated overnight.
