Extra crispy chicken wraps are packed with juicy, golden-fried chicken, fresh veggies, and a creamy sauce, all rolled in a soft tortilla. They’re a satisfying, texture-rich meal perfect for lunch or dinner.

Ingredients

  • 1 lb boneless, skinless chicken breasts or thighs
  • 1 cup buttermilk (for marinating)
  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1/2 cup cornstarch
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 1/2 tsp black pepper
  • 1 tsp garlic powder
  • 1 tsp paprika
  • 1/4 tsp cayenne pepper (optional)
  • 2 large eggs
  • Vegetable oil (for frying)
  • 4 large flour tortillas
  • 1 cup shredded lettuce
  • 1 tomato, sliced or diced
  • 1/2 cup shredded cheese (optional)
  • Ranch, mayo, or preferred sauce

Instructions

  1. Slice chicken into strips and marinate in buttermilk for at least 30 minutes or overnight.
  2. In one bowl, mix flour, cornstarch, salt, pepper, garlic powder, paprika, and cayenne pepper. In another bowl, beat the eggs.
  3. Dredge each chicken strip in the flour mixture, dip in the eggs, then coat again in the flour mixture.
  4. Heat oil in a skillet over medium-high heat. Fry the chicken strips for 4–5 minutes per side, or until golden and cooked through.
  5. Transfer cooked chicken to a wire rack to drain and stay crispy.
  6. Warm tortillas in a pan or microwave. Lay out flat and layer lettuce, tomato, and cheese if using.
  7. Add crispy chicken strips on top and drizzle with sauce of choice.
  8. Roll each tortilla tightly into a wrap, slice in half, and serve.

Notes

  • Use a wire rack instead of paper towels to keep chicken crispy after frying.
  • For a lighter option, air fry or bake the chicken instead of deep frying.
  • Customize wraps with different sauces or flavored tortillas.
  • Store chicken and toppings separately for the best meal prep results.
  • Reheat chicken in an oven or air fryer for best texture.
