Elegant Blue Cheese Stuffed Pears are a refined appetizer that balances the sweetness of ripe pears with the bold flavor of creamy blue cheese. Finished with a drizzle of honey and crunchy toasted nuts, they’re perfect for holiday dinners, wine nights, or any special gathering where you want to impress with minimal effort.

Ingredients

  • 2 ripe but firm pears (such as Bosc or Anjou)
  • 1/3 cup blue cheese (Gorgonzola, Roquefort, or preferred type)
  • 12 tablespoons honey
  • 2 tablespoons chopped toasted walnuts or pecans
  • Fresh thyme leaves or arugula (optional, for garnish)
  • 1 teaspoon lemon juice (to prevent browning)

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C) if serving warm.
  2. Cut pears in half lengthwise and scoop out the cores with a spoon or melon baller.
  3. Rub cut sides with lemon juice to prevent browning.
  4. Place pears cut-side up on a serving tray or baking sheet.
  5. Fill each hollow with a generous spoonful of blue cheese.
  6. If serving warm, bake for 10–12 minutes until just softened and cheese slightly melts. If serving cold, keep chilled until ready to serve.
  7. Before serving, drizzle with honey and sprinkle with toasted nuts.
  8. Garnish with fresh thyme leaves or a few arugula sprigs if desired.

Notes

  • Goat cheese or Brie can be used for a milder alternative to blue cheese.
  • Add black pepper or balsamic glaze for more savory depth.
  • Serve on arugula dressed with lemon juice and olive oil for an elevated look.
  • For nut-free options, use crispy shallots or sunflower seeds instead.
  • Store leftovers in the fridge for up to 2 days and reheat at 300°F for 5–7 minutes if desired.
