An easy hibachi-style steak and shrimp fried rice made with tender diced steak, juicy shrimp, savory soy-seasoned rice, and vegetables. This quick one-pan meal delivers restaurant-style flavor at home and is perfect for busy weeknight dinners.

Ingredients

  • 1 cup cooked steak, diced
  • 1/2 pound shrimp, peeled and deveined
  • 3 cups cooked day-old rice
  • 2 tablespoons vegetable oil
  • 2 tablespoons butter
  • 2 eggs, beaten
  • 1/2 cup diced carrots
  • 1/2 cup frozen peas
  • 3 green onions, sliced
  • 3 tablespoons soy sauce
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1 tablespoon sesame oil

Instructions

  1. Heat 1 tablespoon of vegetable oil in a large skillet or wok over medium-high heat.
  2. Add the shrimp and cook for 2–3 minutes per side until pink and opaque. Remove and set aside.
  3. Add the diced steak to the same pan and cook for a few minutes until heated through and lightly browned. Remove and set aside with the shrimp.
  4. Melt the butter in the same pan and add the diced carrots and peas. Cook for 3–4 minutes until slightly tender.
  5. Push the vegetables to one side of the pan and pour the beaten eggs onto the empty side. Scramble until fully cooked.
  6. Add the cooked rice and stir everything together.
  7. Drizzle soy sauce and sesame oil over the rice and sprinkle in garlic powder and black pepper.
  8. Stir-fry for several minutes until the rice is heated through and evenly seasoned.
  9. Return the steak and shrimp to the pan and mix well.
  10. Add the sliced green onions and give the rice one final stir before serving.

Notes

  • Day-old rice works best because it is drier and fries better.
  • Add vegetables like bell peppers, mushrooms, or zucchini for more variety.
  • For extra flavor, drizzle a little hibachi-style yum yum sauce when serving.
  • Add chili flakes or hot sauce if you prefer a spicy version.
  • Reheat leftovers in a skillet with a little oil to keep the rice from drying out.
