A warm, soothing dumpling soup made with tender dumplings simmered in a flavorful, aromatic broth with vegetables, perfect for a light yet comforting meal.

Ingredients

  • 20 prepared dumplings (fresh or frozen)
  • 6 cups chicken or vegetable broth
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 teaspoon fresh ginger, grated
  • 2 tablespoons soy sauce
  • 1 teaspoon sesame oil
  • 2 carrots, thinly sliced
  • 3 green onions, sliced
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt (or to taste)
  • 1/4 teaspoon black pepper

Instructions

  1. Bring the broth to a gentle boil in a large pot over medium heat.
  2. Add the garlic, ginger, soy sauce, and sesame oil, and simmer for 3–4 minutes to develop flavor.
  3. Add the dumplings and sliced carrots to the pot.
  4. Cook according to dumpling package instructions, about 5–7 minutes, until dumplings are tender and fully cooked.
  5. Taste the soup and adjust seasoning with salt and black pepper as needed.
  6. Stir in the green onions just before serving.
  7. Serve hot.

Notes

  • Simmer gently to prevent dumplings from breaking apart.
  • Add extra broth when reheating if dumplings absorb liquid.
  • Frozen dumplings can be added directly without thawing.
