Date Balls are a chewy, no-bake treat made with naturally sweet dates, nuts, and wholesome add-ins. Perfect for a quick snack, dessert, or energy boost, they’re healthy, portable, and incredibly easy to make.

Ingredients

  • 1 1/2 cups Medjool dates, pitted
  • 1 cup almonds, walnuts, or cashews
  • 1/4 cup rolled oats (optional)
  • 1 tablespoon cocoa powder (optional for chocolate flavor)
  • 1 tablespoon chia seeds or flaxseeds (optional)
  • 1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • Pinch of salt
  • 12 teaspoons water (as needed for blending)
  • Optional coatings: shredded coconut, cocoa powder, crushed nuts, or sesame seeds

Instructions

  1. Add pitted dates and nuts to a food processor. Pulse until finely chopped and mixture starts to stick together.
  2. Add vanilla extract, salt, and any optional ingredients like oats, cocoa powder, or seeds. Pulse again until well combined.
  3. If mixture is too dry, add water 1 teaspoon at a time and pulse until it holds together when pressed.
  4. Scoop mixture into small portions and roll into balls with your hands.
  5. Roll each ball in your choice of coatings if desired.
  6. Refrigerate for at least 30 minutes to firm up before serving.

Notes

  • Add nut butter for extra creaminess and flavor.
  • Use dried pineapple or mango for a tropical variation.
  • Mix in mini chocolate chips or a scoop of protein powder for a fun or protein-packed version.
  • Use sunflower or pumpkin seeds for a nut-free alternative.
  • Lightly dampen hands with water or oil to prevent sticking when rolling.
