Creamy Harissa Chicken & Gnocchi is a spicy, rich one-pan meal made with tender chicken, soft gnocchi, and a bold harissa cream sauce. It’s cozy, satisfying, and perfect for an easy dinner packed with flavor.

Ingredients

  • 1 lb gnocchi (store-bought or homemade)
  • 1 lb boneless, skinless chicken breasts or thighs, cut into bite-sized pieces
  • 2 tbsp olive oil
  • 3 garlic cloves, minced
  • 1 small onion or shallot, finely chopped
  • 23 tbsp harissa paste (adjust to taste)
  • 1/2 cup heavy cream
  • 1/2 cup chicken broth
  • 1/2 cup grated Parmesan cheese
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • 2 cups spinach or kale (optional)
  • Fresh parsley or basil, chopped (for garnish)

Instructions

  1. Season chicken with salt and pepper.
  2. In a large skillet, heat olive oil over medium heat. Sear chicken until golden and cooked through. Remove from pan and set aside.
  3. In the same pan, sauté chopped onion until soft. Add garlic and cook until fragrant, about 1 minute.
  4. Stir in harissa paste and cook for another minute to release its flavors.
  5. Pour in chicken broth and heavy cream. Stir until smooth and bring to a gentle simmer.
  6. Return cooked chicken to the pan. Add gnocchi and simmer for 7–10 minutes, until gnocchi is tender and sauce has thickened.
  7. Stir in Parmesan cheese and greens (if using) until wilted and well combined.
  8. Adjust seasoning to taste. Garnish with chopped parsley or basil before serving.

Notes

  • Swap chicken for shrimp for a seafood variation.
  • Use roasted cauliflower or chickpeas to make it vegetarian.
  • Add mascarpone or cream cheese for extra richness.
  • Control spice by adjusting the amount of harissa paste.
  • Use arugula, Swiss chard, or omit greens as desired.
