Ingredients

  • For the Biscuits:
  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 tablespoon baking powder
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • ½ teaspoon salt
  • ½ cup cold butter, cubed
  • 1 cup shredded sharp cheddar cheese
  • ¾ cup whole milk or buttermilk
  • For the Crab Filling:
  • 8 oz lump crab meat, drained and shell removed
  • 4 oz cream cheese, softened
  • 2 tablespoons mayonnaise
  • 1 teaspoon Dijon mustard
  • 1 tablespoon lemon juice
  • 1 teaspoon Old Bay seasoning
  • 1 tablespoon chopped fresh chives or parsley
  • For the Lemon Butter Sauce:
  • ¼ cup butter
  • 2 tablespoons fresh lemon juice
  • 1 clove garlic, minced
  • 1 tablespoon chopped parsley
  • Pinch of salt

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 425°F (220°C). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  2. In a large bowl, whisk together flour, baking powder, garlic powder, and salt.
  3. Cut in cold butter until the mixture resembles coarse crumbs. Stir in cheddar cheese.
  4. Gradually mix in the milk until just combined—do not overmix.
  5. In a separate bowl, mix crab meat, cream cheese, mayonnaise, Dijon, lemon juice, Old Bay, and herbs until smooth.
  6. Scoop out biscuit dough, flatten slightly, and place a spoonful of crab filling in the center. Fold and seal the dough around the filling.
  7. Arrange stuffed biscuits on prepared baking sheet and bake for 12–15 minutes, or until golden.
  8. Meanwhile, make lemon butter sauce: melt butter in a small saucepan, add garlic and lemon juice, and cook for 1–2 minutes. Stir in parsley and salt.
  9. Brush warm biscuits with lemon butter sauce before serving.

Notes

  • For spice, add a dash of hot sauce or cayenne to the crab mixture.
  • Add chopped shrimp or scallops for a seafood blend.
  • Shortcut: Use store-bought biscuit dough if short on time.
  • Best served warm but still delicious at room temperature.
  • Brushing with lemon butter is optional—but highly recommended!
