  • 4 oz cream cheese, softened
  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 large egg
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • 3 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 tsp baking powder
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • Optional: icing, sprinkles, or sanding sugar for decorating

Instructions

  1. Cream the softened butter and cream cheese together until smooth and fluffy.
  2. Add the sugar and beat until well combined.
  3. Mix in the egg and vanilla extract until fully incorporated.
  4. In a separate bowl, whisk together flour, baking powder, and salt.
  5. Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet mixture, mixing until a dough forms.
  6. Divide the dough in half, flatten into disks, wrap in plastic wrap, and chill for at least 1 hour.
  7. Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C).
  8. Roll out the dough on a lightly floured surface to 1/4 inch thickness.
  9. Cut out shapes with cookie cutters and place on a parchment-lined baking sheet.
  10. Bake for 8–10 minutes, until edges just begin to turn golden.
  11. Cool completely before decorating with icing or sprinkles if desired.
