These Cheesecake Factory Air Fryer Fried Macaroni and Cheese Balls are crispy on the outside, creamy and cheesy on the inside, and lighter than the deep-fried version. Perfect for parties, game nights, or whenever you’re craving restaurant-style comfort food at home.

Ingredients

  • 8 oz elbow macaroni
  • 2 tbsp butter
  • 2 tbsp all-purpose flour
  • 1 cup milk
  • ½ tsp garlic powder
  • ½ tsp onion powder
  • ½ tsp salt
  • ¼ tsp black pepper
  • 1 cup shredded mozzarella cheese
  • ½ cup grated Parmesan cheese
  • ½ cup shredded cheddar cheese (optional)
  • 1 cup panko breadcrumbs
  • 2 large eggs, whisked
  • Cooking spray

Instructions

  1. Cook macaroni according to package directions; drain and set aside.
  2. Melt butter in a saucepan over medium heat; whisk in flour to form a roux and cook for 1–2 minutes.
  3. Gradually whisk in milk until smooth and thickened.
  4. Stir in garlic powder, onion powder, salt, and pepper. Add mozzarella, Parmesan, and cheddar; mix until melted.
  5. Fold in cooked macaroni, spread mixture in a shallow dish, and let cool.
  6. Scoop and roll cooled mac and cheese into balls; place on a lined baking sheet.
  7. Freeze for at least 1 hour.
  8. Set up breading station with eggs in one bowl and panko in another.
  9. Dip each ball in egg, then coat in panko, pressing gently to adhere.
  10. Preheat air fryer to 375°F. Arrange balls in a single layer, spray with cooking spray, and air-fry for 8–10 minutes, flipping halfway, until golden.
  11. Serve hot with marinara or your favorite dipping sauce.

Notes

  • Mix in cooked bacon bits or jalapeños for extra flavor.
  • Season panko with paprika, Italian seasoning, or cayenne for more spice.
  • Use pepper jack cheese for a kick.
  • Serve with ranch, chipotle mayo, or honey mustard.
  • Make lighter by using whole wheat pasta and reduced-fat cheese.
