An elegant Caramelized Pear and Blue Cheese Salad featuring sweet golden pears, tangy blue cheese, crisp greens, and crunchy nuts tossed in a simple balsamic Dijon dressing. It’s a beautiful balance of sweet and savory flavors.

Ingredients

  • 2 ripe pears, sliced
  • 4 cups mixed salad greens (arugula or spring mix)
  • 1/2 cup crumbled blue cheese
  • 1/3 cup chopped walnuts or pecans
  • 2 tablespoons unsalted butter
  • 1 tablespoon brown sugar
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil
  • 1 tablespoon balsamic vinegar
  • 1 teaspoon Dijon mustard
  • Salt and black pepper to taste

Instructions

  1. Melt the butter in a skillet over medium heat.
  2. Add the sliced pears in a single layer and sprinkle with brown sugar.
  3. Cook for 3–4 minutes per side until golden and caramelized. Remove from heat and let cool slightly.
  4. In a small bowl, whisk together olive oil, balsamic vinegar, Dijon mustard, salt, and black pepper to make the dressing.
  5. Place mixed greens in a large bowl and drizzle lightly with dressing. Toss gently to coat.
  6. Arrange the dressed greens on a serving platter or individual plates.
  7. Top with warm caramelized pears, crumbled blue cheese, and chopped nuts.
  8. Drizzle additional dressing if desired and serve immediately.

Notes

  • Bosc or Anjou pears hold their shape best when caramelized.
  • Substitute goat cheese or feta for a milder flavor.
  • Toast nuts in a dry skillet for 3–5 minutes for extra flavor.
  • Store components separately in the refrigerator for up to 2 days.
  • Assemble just before serving to keep greens fresh and crisp.
