Cake Pop Brains are spooky, bite-sized Halloween treats made from crumbled cake and frosting, shaped like miniature brains and coated in eerie candy melts. Perfect for parties, they combine creepy looks with delicious flavor.

Ingredients

  • 1 baked cake (any flavor, cooled)
  • ½ to 1 cup frosting (store-bought or homemade)
  • 12 cups white or pink candy melts
  • Red or pink food coloring
  • 2024 lollipop sticks
  • Optional: piping bag or zip-top bag
  • Optional: edible blood gel or red icing for decoration

Instructions

  1. Crumble the cooled cake into fine crumbs in a large bowl.
  2. Add frosting a little at a time, mixing until the texture resembles dough and holds its shape.
  3. Roll into small, oval shapes resembling brains. Chill for 30–60 minutes.
  4. Melt candy melts and tint with food coloring to a light pink or fleshy tone.
  5. Dip lollipop sticks into melted candy, insert into each cake pop, then coat entirely in candy melt.
  6. Let coating harden completely.
  7. Pipe brain-like squiggles on top using remaining melted candy or icing.
  8. Add edible blood gel or red icing for extra creepy effect, if desired.
  9. Chill or let set before serving.

Notes

  • Use red velvet cake for a spookier, blood-red interior.
  • Add raspberry jam to the center for a gory “bleeding” bite.
  • Use modeling chocolate for more detailed brain patterns.
  • Skip the sticks and serve in mini cupcake liners for brain bites.
  • Let pops come to room temperature for 15–20 minutes before serving if chilled.
