Beef Tacos are a quick, fun, and customizable meal featuring seasoned ground beef wrapped in warm tortillas and topped with fresh, vibrant toppings for a satisfying dinner.

Ingredients

  • 1 lb ground beef
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil
  • 1 small onion, finely chopped
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 2 tablespoons taco seasoning (or homemade: chili powder, cumin, paprika, oregano, salt, pepper)
  • 1 tablespoon tomato paste or ¼ cup salsa (optional, for extra richness)
  • 8 corn or flour tortillas
  • 1 cup shredded lettuce
  • 2 medium tomatoes, diced
  • 1 cup shredded cheddar or Mexican cheese blend
  • ¼ cup chopped red onion
  • 1 avocado or ½ cup guacamole
  • ½ cup sour cream or Greek yogurt
  • Fresh cilantro (optional)
  • Lime wedges (for serving)

Instructions

  1. Heat olive oil in a skillet over medium heat and sauté onion and garlic until soft and fragrant.
  2. Add ground beef and cook until browned, breaking it up as it cooks.
  3. Stir in taco seasoning, salt, pepper, and tomato paste or salsa if using. Simmer for 5–7 minutes so the flavors meld.
  4. Warm the tortillas in a dry skillet or microwave so they’re soft and pliable.
  5. Fill each tortilla with the seasoned beef, then top with shredded cheese.
  6. Add lettuce, tomatoes, red onion, avocado or guacamole, and sour cream or Greek yogurt.
  7. Finish with fresh cilantro and a squeeze of lime. Serve immediately.

Notes

  • Swap ground beef for ground turkey or chicken for a lighter option.
  • Use beans or sautéed mushrooms instead of meat for a vegetarian version.
  • Add rice or refried beans into the filling to make it heartier.
  • Spice it up with jalapeños or a dash of hot sauce.
