Air Fryer Mozzarella Sticks are a quick, cheesy snack with a crispy coating and gooey center—made lighter by using the air fryer instead of deep frying. Perfect for parties, game days, or an easy treat.

Ingredients

  • 6 mozzarella string cheese sticks, cut in half
  • 1/4 cup all-purpose flour
  • 2 eggs, beaten
  • 1 cup panko breadcrumbs
  • 1 tsp Italian seasoning
  • 1/2 tsp garlic powder
  • 1/4 tsp salt
  • Cooking spray or olive oil spray
  • Marinara sauce, for dipping

Instructions

  1. Cut each mozzarella stick in half for 12 pieces total.
  2. Prepare a breading station with flour in one bowl, beaten eggs in a second, and a mixture of panko, Italian seasoning, garlic powder, and salt in a third.
  3. Dip each cheese stick in flour, then egg, then breadcrumbs. For extra crunch, repeat the egg and breadcrumb coating.
  4. Place coated sticks on a baking sheet and freeze for at least 30 minutes.
  5. Preheat air fryer to 390°F (200°C).
  6. Arrange frozen mozzarella sticks in a single layer in the basket. Spray lightly with cooking spray.
  7. Air fry for 6–8 minutes until golden and crispy. Watch closely to prevent bursting.
  8. Serve immediately with warm marinara sauce for dipping.

Notes

  • Customize seasoning with paprika or red pepper flakes for spice.
  • Use gluten-free flour and breadcrumbs for a gluten-free version.
  • Try other cheeses like pepper jack for a twist.
  • Freeze uncooked breaded sticks for up to 2 months for make-ahead convenience.
  • Reheat leftovers in air fryer at 375°F for 3–4 minutes.
