Air Fryer Cheesy Mashed Potato Balls are a crispy, gooey, and irresistible snack or appetizer made with leftover mashed potatoes, melty cheese, and a golden breadcrumb coating. Ready in just 30 minutes, these bite-sized delights are perfect for game day, parties, or whenever you crave comfort food—without the mess of deep frying.

Ingredients

  • 2 cups mashed potatoes (chilled and firm)
  • 1 cup shredded mozzarella or cheddar cheese
  • ½ cup grated Parmesan cheese
  • 1 egg, beaten
  • ½ tsp garlic powder
  • ½ tsp onion powder
  • Salt and pepper, to taste
  • 1 cup breadcrumbs (panko or regular)
  • Cooking spray or olive oil

Instructions

  1. In a large bowl, mix mashed potatoes, shredded cheese, Parmesan, garlic powder, onion powder, salt, and pepper until well combined.
  2. Scoop and roll the mixture into 1.5-inch balls. Chill for 10–15 minutes if too sticky.
  3. Dip each ball in beaten egg, then roll in breadcrumbs. Press gently to coat.
  4. Preheat air fryer to 375°F (190°C). Lightly spray the basket and arrange balls in a single layer.
  5. Air fry for 10–12 minutes, shaking halfway, until golden brown.
  6. Serve hot with dipping sauces like ranch, marinara, or sour cream.

Notes

  • Add-ins: Bacon bits, fresh herbs, or spicy cheese for variations.
  • Crispy coating: Try crushed cornflakes instead of breadcrumbs.
  • Baking option: Bake at 400°F for 20 minutes, flipping halfway.
  • Freezer-friendly: Freeze uncooked balls and air fry from frozen, adding a few minutes.
