Quick and flavorful Mediterranean ground beef pita pockets filled with seasoned beef, fresh vegetables, and creamy sauce for a satisfying and balanced meal.

Ingredients

  • 500g (1 lb) ground beef
  • 4 pita breads
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil
  • 3 garlic cloves, minced
  • 1 small onion, chopped
  • 1 teaspoon paprika
  • 1 teaspoon cumin
  • 1 teaspoon dried oregano
  • Salt to taste
  • Black pepper to taste
  • 1 cup cherry tomatoes, chopped
  • 1 cucumber, diced
  • 1 cup lettuce, shredded
  • 1/4 red onion, thinly sliced
  • 1/2 cup plain yogurt or tzatziki sauce
  • 1 tablespoon lemon juice

Instructions

  1. Heat olive oil in a pan over medium heat.
  2. Sauté chopped onion until soft, then add garlic and cook briefly.
  3. Add ground beef and cook until browned, breaking it apart as it cooks.
  4. Season with paprika, cumin, oregano, salt, and black pepper, stirring well.
  5. Prepare vegetables by chopping tomatoes, cucumber, lettuce, and red onion.
  6. Warm the pita bread slightly to make it soft and flexible.
  7. Fill each pita with seasoned beef, then add fresh vegetables.
  8. Top with yogurt or tzatziki sauce and a squeeze of lemon juice.
  9. Serve immediately.
